Scott and I are expecting our first child in July. This is a very exciting news for us and we are both still in disbelief, even at 13 weeks. Life as we know it will change forever. We are looking forward to this change! I has been a long time coming due to our racing schedules and mostly me not feeling like I wanted to have children yet. It was time and I really think my body at 37 finally was ready for it. Pretty late for a pregnancy compared to most of my friends but I don't think I was mentally ready for it before. Everything feels right, right now.
When I first found out I was pregnant I tried to keep up the same workouts like before and the morning sickness and overall tiredness soared. I realized I needed to embrace the pregnancy instead of try to continue on like I was one tough mother. Toned down the workouts and changed things around. I listen to my body even more now. I seem to have the right balance down and I have been feeling really good.
Oh, and I have a new love for prenatal yoga. LOVE IT!!
Scott has been a super fantastic supporter. He set me up with a consultative phone call with professional triathlete Monica Byrn as soon as we knew. She is a professional triathlete, wife of world famous Coach Gordo Bryn. She gave birth to a baby girl just last year. She filled me in on all the fitness part of the pregnancy and helped guide me on what she has learned to be safe. The main thing-don't do anything new!
Well Junior is about the size of a peach right now. Hard to believe. I have already had requests to see my belly. Weird. I told them, "NO!".... and they will really only see the reminents of Christmas cookies anyway, not a baby bump yet!
